Top generals from Iran and South Africa agreed to take concrete steps toward enhancing military cooperation in pursuit of mutual national interests, affirming their commitment to a strategic partnership, Press TV reports.

The agreement came in a Tuesday meeting between Major General Seyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi and visiting Commander of the South African National Defense Force, General Rudzani Maphwanya.

The two sides described the visit as a turning point in Tehran–Pretoria relations.

General Mousavi emphasized the importance of leveraging political commonalities between the two nations to foster deeper collaboration across regional and international platforms.

He described the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) as the world’s largest anti-terrorism force, noting that it possesses valuable experience that could be shared with South Africa.

He added that other branches of Iran’s military, including the Army and the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, have significant capabilities in various military, technical, and industrial domains that could be utilized in collaboration with South Africa’s Armed Forces and Ministry of Defense to serve national interests and promote regional and international security.
