Google Alert – Bangladesh Army
At 1030 am, Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan will inaugurate the project at Padma Oil Company’s Guptakhal Installations in Patenga. Standing beside him will be Energy Secretary Mohammad Saiful Islam and Bangladesh Army Engineer-in-Chief Major General Hasan-uz-Zaman, watching a decades-old dream roar to life.
This dual pipeline, costing Tk 3,600 crore (about USD 420 million) and years in the making, has passed all tests and commissioning drills, Project Director Aminul Haque told The Daily Observer. “It will slash delivery time, cut annual carrying costs drastically, and seal a new horizon in our fuel transportation history,” he said.
Once fully operational, the line will pump 260-280 metric tons of diesel every hour from Chattogram to Godnail in Narayanganj – without the risk, delays, or pilferage of traditional transport. The 24 Engineer Construction Brigade of the Bangladesh Army implemented the project, overcoming pandemic slowdowns and cost escalations caused by the Russia-Ukraine war.
