In the greater interest of the nation and the people,
the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) has called upon the Jana Samhati
Samiti (JSS – Santu faction) to end the bloody fratricidal conflict and adopt a
joint program protesting the rape of a teenage student in Singinala,
Khagrachari. UPDF also urged JSS (Santu) to withdraw its armed members from
Panchari and Dighinala in Khagrachari district and bring them back to areas
under their own control.

Today, Sunday (28 September 2025), UPDF Vice President
Nuton Kumar Chakma made this call in an urgent statement to the media.

Describing the bloody fratricidal conflict that has
been raging for the past 27 years as a terrible curse for the nation, he said,
“UPDF has never wanted this conflict, does not want it now, and has therefore
always fully respected the understanding reached through discussions with JSS
(Santu) in 2018.”

The UPDF leader expressed hope that the JSS (Santu)
leadership would show proper respect for the people’s aspiration for unity and
would immediately stop armed provocations and conflicts in various places, and
sincerely join the ongoing popular movement.
