The Khagrachari district administration has reported that, so far,
the bodies of three people have been recovered following an army shooting and
attack on protesting students and civilians in the Ramesu Bazar area of Guimara
upazila in Khagrachari district. However, the actual number of deaths is still
unknown. In addition, at least 30 people were seriously injured, though that
number may be higher, according to estimates.

Some of the people killed and injured by army gunfire in Guimara.

The identities of those killed and injured have not yet been
confirmed.

This brutal attack took place around noon today (Sunday, September
28, 2025).

Following the military assault, settlers joined in the attack. They
set fire to shops in Ramesu Bazar, most of which were owned by indigenous
people. At least 30 shops were burned to ashes, and according to local sources,
several motorcycles and nearby homes were also set on fire.

The situation remains tense in the area, and the indigenous
residents are living in fear and anxiety.

It is worth noting that on September 23, a Marma teenage girl was
gang-raped in the Singinala area of Khagrachari Sadar, and since September 24,
continuous protests, blockades, and rallies have been organized under the
banner of the Jumma Students and Masses, demanding the immediate arrest and
punishment of all those involved.

During yesterday’s blockade, settlers launched an attack in
Khagrachari Sadar, escalating the situation. In response, Jumma student groups
called for a renewed and continuous blockade, and supporters in the Guimara
area took to the streets in solidarity.
