In yet another instance of harassment and
intimidation, members of the Bangladesh Army raided the homes of three innocent
villagers in Bhaibonchara village under Longadu Union of Longadu Upazila,
Rangamati, earlier today.

The unwarranted house searches took place around 9:30
AM on Friday, August 8, when a heavily armed group of 40–45 soldiers from the
Longadu Army Camp, along with personnel who had been stationed overnight at the
Talchari Government Primary School, descended on the village. The military
presence and their aggressive behavior caused widespread fear and anxiety among
local residents.

During the raid, the army forcibly entered and
searched the homes of three villagers: Bidya Ranjan Chakma (35), Badikkya
Chakma (50), Nanjita Ma (50), a widowed woman.

None of the targeted individuals have any known
criminal allegations against them.

This operation follows a similar army intrusion the
previous day, when troops entered Bhaibonchara village and patrolled the area,
causing alarm among villagers. While no homes were searched on that occasion,
the sudden presence of armed forces sparked concerns of potential violence and
repression.

At the time of reporting, military personnel remain
stationed in the area, and the atmosphere in the village is tense. Residents,
particularly women and children, are reportedly too afraid to leave their
homes.
