Army chief returns home after attending IPACC in Malaysia

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman returned to Dhaka last night (September 26) after attending the 14th Indo-Pacific Army Chiefs Conference (IPACC) in Malaysia, the Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) said in a statement on Saturday (September 27).

The conference, held from September 23 to 26, brought together army chiefs from the Indo-Pacific region to discuss strengthening cooperation, addressing shared challenges, and coordinating responses to regional crises.

At the summit, General Waker-Uz-Zaman stressed partnership and collaboration over competition to tackle complex regional challenges. He reaffirmed the Bangladesh Army’s commitment to regional peace and stability through humanitarian efforts, professionalism, and constructive engagement.

During the visit, he also held separate meetings with U.S. Army Pacific Command Chief Ronald Patrick Clark and Malaysian Army Chief General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain Bin Jantan. Discussions focused on Bangladesh Army modernization, professional training, technology transfer in defense production, Rohingya repatriation, regional and global security cooperation, and joint training initiatives.

Earlier, General Waker-Uz-Zaman departed Dhaka for Malaysia on September 22 for the official visit.
