BTS have denied reports linking them to a Michael Jackson tribute album as they prepare to release their first group record since 2020 in spring 2026, following the completion of their military service.
Rumours first appeared in The Sun, naming the group among “superstar artists” set to reinterpret Jackson’s unreleased tracks, BBC reports.
The band’s management took to X to stress that BTS had not attended any recording sessions at the Irish Grouse Lodge Studios where Jackson is said to have worked on an unfinished album in 2006.
Fans have often likened BTS to the “King of Pop” for their global influence and record-breaking success, comparisons that continued even during the group’s hiatus, which began in 2022 due to South Korea’s conscription laws and saw members complete their service in stages.
Suga served as a social service agent, reportedly due to a shoulder injury, while the other six members enlisted in the army; RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook were discharged earlier this month.
Formed in 2010 and debuting in 2013, BTS have grown into the world’s most successful K-pop band, topping global charts with six US number one albums and singles and becoming the best-selling music act worldwide in 2020 and 2021.
