In the past 24 hours, four more people have died from dengue, while 845 patients were admitted to hospitals across Bangladesh, according to a press release issued by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday (Sep 28).
The release detailed the distribution of hospitalised patients outside city corporation areas: 166 in Barishal division, 91 in Chattogram, 164 in Dhaka division, 101 in Khulna, 37 in Mymensingh, 54 in Rajshahi, 17 in Rangpur, and 6 in Sylhet. Additionally, 97 patients were admitted in Dhaka North City Corporation and 112 in Dhaka South City Corporation.
In the same period, 658 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients this year to 43,629. So far in 2025, a total of 46,051 dengue cases have been reported, of which 60.5% are men and 39.5% are women.
This year, dengue has claimed 192 lives. From January 1 to December 31, 2024, a total of 111,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths were reported. In 2023, dengue caused 1,705 deaths and led to the hospitalisation of 321,179 patients.
