Google Alert – Bangladesh Army
The government has formed a nine-member committee to examine the issues of retired officers from the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force who faced deprivation, injustice, or retaliation during the previous government’s tenure (2009 to August 4, 2024).
The committee will assess these cases and provide appropriate recommendations in accordance with established rules.
The Ministry of Defence issued a notification in this regard on August 14, which was shared by the Press Wing of the Chief Adviser on August 17.
Lieutenant General (Retd) Abdul Hafiz, special assistant to the chief adviser on Defence and National Integration Development, will serve as Chairman of the committee while Director General, Administration and Logistics, Office of the CA, Armed Forces Division, has been designated as the Member-Secretary.
Other members of the committee include Major General (Retd) Muhammad Shams-ul-Huda, Major General (Retd) Sheikh Pasha Habib Uddin, Rear Admiral (Retd) Mohammad Shafiul Azam, Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Muhammad Shafqat Ali, Adjutant General of the Bangladesh Army, the Naval Secretary at Navy Headquarters, and the Air Secretary at Air Force Headquarters.
The Chief of Army Staff, the Military Secretary, or a designated representative will provide necessary information to the committee as required.
The committee is also empowered to co-opt any serving or retired officer of the Armed Forces if deemed necessary.
As per its terms of reference, the committee will notify aggrieved officers by announcing a deadline for submission of applications. It will review all received applications within a maximum of two months and formulate appropriate recommendations in accordance with existing rules.
The Office of the Chief Adviser, Armed Forces Division, will provide all necessary secretarial and logistical support to the committee, including arranging a suitable office space.
Retired members of the committee will receive an honorarium at the prescribed rate from the Ministry of Defence budget for each meeting.
