House-to-house searches during army operation in Longudu

The Bangladesh Army soldiers are conducting an
operation in the Harikaba area of Longadu Upazila in Rangamati. According to
sources, the military is carrying out house-to-house searches in the village of
Bhaibonchara. The operation has sparked concern, anxiety, and fear among the
local population.

According to local sources, around 11:30 this morning,
a group of 40 to 50 army personnel from the Longadu Zone and the Harikaba Army
Camp (Sub-Zone) conducted a patrol in the areas of Boro Harikaba, Moddho
Harikaba, and Dudukchara.

They reportedly stayed for a while at Harikaba
Government Primary School. Later, they moved into a village called “Ethmora
Chara” and are currently stationed there.

On the other hand, another group of soldiers has
reportedly entered the village of Bhaibonchara and is conducting house-to-house
searches, according to locals.

Locals also report that such operations by the
military are causing widespread concern, anxiety, and fear in the area.
