The nation Saturday paid tributes to the army officers killed in February 25-26, 2009 BDR carnage at Pilkhana headquarters three years ago, reports BSS.
President’s Military Secretary Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed and Prime Minister’s Assistant Military Secretary Lt Col Sheikh Mohammad Moniruzzaman placed wreaths at the memorial at Banani graveyard for the slain officers on behalf of the president and the prime minister.

Tuku on behalf of his ministry, Army Chief General Md Abdul Mubeen along with navy and air force chiefs and Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Major General Anwar Hossain placed wreaths on their graves as part of the mourning.
A delegation of the ruling Awami League led by its Senior Presidium Member and Deputy Leader of the House Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, MP, paid tributes to the army officials placing wreaths at Banani Army Graveyard.
Jute and Textile Minister Abdul Latif Siddique, Joint Secretary of AL Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, State Minister for Home Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Captain (retd) ABM Tajul Islam were the members of the delegation.
After placing the wreaths, a minute’s silence was observed in respect to the assassinated army officials. Members of armed forces also gave salute to their fellow colleagues, who were brutally killed during the 2009 carnage.

A Doa was held later for the peace of the departed souls of 57 assassinated army officials and the army officials who were killed in a helicopter crash in Tangail on March 9, 2009.
Special prayers, Milad Mahfil and recitation from the Holy Quran was held at Multipurpose Training Shed at border guards’ headquarters in Pilkhana in the capital alongside mosques of its sectors institutions, units and border outposts (BOPs) for peace of the departed souls of the army officials.
State Minister for Home Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, Additional Secretary of Home Mainuddin Khandoker, BGB DG Maj Gen Anwar Hossain and all of its members working at Pilkhana were present during the Doa and Milad Mahfil.
Doa, Milad Mafil and recitation from the Holy Quran were also held at Army Central Mosque and army log area.
Different social and political organisations, including ruling Awami League and main opposition BNP, arranged programmes marking third anniversary of Pilkhana tragedy.
At least 74 people, including 57 army officials deputed to the paramilitary force, were brutally killed in the February 25-26 bloody mutiny in 2009.
The BGB flags were kept half mast at all units, including Pilkhana headquarters, while the day-long mourning began with Khatme Quran at the central mosque at the headquarters.
Milad and Doa Mahfils at Pilkhana and all units of the frontier force were held to seek eternal blessings for the departed souls.
Family members of the assassinated officers held a Doa Mehfil Saturday after Asr prayers at Old DOHS Community Centre at Mohakhali.
Meanwhile, Law Minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed told newsmen in the city that the trial process of BDR mutiny continues properly and it would be concluded soon.
