Police have arrested a man named Md. Abdur Razzak (52)
on charges of molesting a 10th-grade indigenous student in Boalkhali’s Notun
Bazar in Dighinala Upazila, Khagrachari district.
On Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 9 AM, the student
went to Notun Bazar in Boalkhali, where Md. Abdur Razzak allegedly attempted to
molest her by touching her sensitive body parts. Following the incident, local
people gathered and surrounded him. Upon receiving the news, the police arrived
at the scene, arrested Md. Razzak, and brought him to the police station.
The arrested individual, Md. Razzak, is the eldest son
of the late Sirajul Islam, a resident of Ward No. 8 of Boalkhali Union.
The victimized student has herself filed a case at the
police station regarding the incident.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dighinala Thana, Md.
Zakaria said, “The incident of molesting a 10th-grade student occurred
today around 9 AM in front of the Apyayan Cooling Corner in Boalkhali’s Notun
Bazar (new market). Upon receiving the news, the accused, Md. Abdur Razzak, was
immediately arrested. The student has personally filed a case at the police
station. The accused has been sent to Khagrachari jail.”
It is worth noting that on September 23, an 8th-grade
indigenous student was a victim of a gang rape by three Bengali youths in
Singinala, Khagrachari Sadar. In protest of this incident, Jumma students and
the general public observed a half-day road blockade in Khagrachari district
today. The molestation incident in Dighinala occurred while this blockade was
underway.
