Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, the deputy press secretary to the Chief Advisor, said, “The army has informed the meeting that 60,000 army members will be on election duty as a striking force in the upcoming national elections.”
Stating that the reshuffle of administration was discussed in the meeting, he said, “There will be a reshuffle of administration before the election. It has not been decided that there will be a reshuffle everywhere. Reshuffles will be made wherever necessary.”
He said this at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Monday afternoon.
He also said that instructions have been given to take necessary security measures in risky centers.
Meanwhile, 150,000 police officers will be trained on voting from September, said the Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.
He said, “The Chief Advisor has ordered to increase coordination between the police and the army in view of the national elections. 150,000 police officers will be trained centered on elections from September. In addition, 60,000 army personnel will work in the election.
Earlier, a meeting of law enforcement agencies was held with the Chief Advisor to the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, regarding the preparations for the elections. A meeting was held at the State Guest House, Jamuna, on Monday.
The meeting reviewed the law and order situation and the election preparations of law enforcement agencies. It was presided over by Chief Advisor, Professor Muhammad Yunus.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of the law enforcement agencies, including the Home Affairs Advisor. There, the Chief Advisor gave directions to the law enforcement agencies to make the elections free and fair.
