Swollen Kaptai lake maroons 200 families in Khagrachhari

More than 200 families residing in the low-lying areas along the Chengi River in Mahalchhari upazila of Khagrachhari have been marooned as water levels in the Kaptai Lake rose abruptly despite no recent rainfall in the district.

Flood-affected villages include Sylheti Para, Chittanga Para, Bridge Para and Kaptai Para.

Mahalchhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abu Raihan said several areas in four villages are now waterlogged.

Feni faces flood risk again as embankment work stalls

On Friday morning, the Bangladesh Army distributed relief in Sylheti Para and Chittanga Para. Under the initiative of Mahalchhari Zone, over 50 affected families received food items and oral saline.

Mahalchhari Zone Commander Lt Col Nafiz Imtiaz and Major Mostafiz were present during the distribution.
